Obituary of Joseph Maccagnano

  Joseph Maccagnano joined his Mom and Dad in Heaven on Saturday, August 17,2024 Joseph was born on August 5, 1966 in Margaret Hague Hospital.  He is predeceased by his parents, Charles J. Maccagnano and Dorothy Maccagnano ( nee Mc.Donald). He is survived by his sister, Dorothy J. Oms, her partner, Dennis Bahr, her niece Amy Oms, nephew Charles F. Oms and Step- Nephews Tommy and Jamie Bahr. 

  Joseph lived most of his life in Hoboken and then went to live with his sister, Dorothy in North Bergen,  when their dad passed away in 2006. Joseph worked at Hudson Community Enterprises in Jersey City for 27 years. After that, he went to Active Day Adult Day Care Center for about 5 years.  

 Joseph was involved in many activities. He was a Special Olympic Athlete for over 40years and received the Athlete of the Year Award in 2019. His other activities included Bowling on the Ability League in Hudson Lanes, The North Bergen  Wednesday Night Program for Special Needs People and the Special Needs Summer Camp.  Joseph was known as an “ Uncle “to many and will be greatly missed . In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Area1 , Special Olympics of New Jersey.

Visitation will be offered  on Thursday, August, 22, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jorge Rivera Funeral Home, 4543 Kennedy Blvd. North Bergen, NJ
