Obituary of Evaristo Matias

 

Evaristo Matias, a cherished husband and devoted father, passed away on March 13, 2024, in Rochelle Park, New Jersey. He was born on October 26, 1958, in Nagua, Dominican Republic, to Isabel Matias and Quirino Ulloa Francisco.

Evaristo is survived by his loving wife, Juana Matias, his son, Brian Matias, and his daughter, Veronica Matias. He was a source of unwavering love and support for his family, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Evaristo was a dedicated entrepreneur who, alongside his wife, Juana, owned and operated a successful restaurant for most of his life. Their restaurant became a beloved gathering place for the community, where Evaristo's warmth and hospitality touched the lives of many.

Known for his gentle nature and boundless love, Evaristo was admired for his kindness, humility, and exceptional intelligence. He had a gift for listening and offering wise counsel to those in need, endearing him to all who sought his guidance. His quick wit and sense of humor brought joy to those around him, leaving a lasting impression on their lives.

Evaristo had a passion for music and dance, particularly salsa, bachata, and merengue, with a special fondness for the songs of Johnny Ventura. He was also a devoted fan of baseball, with a lifelong allegiance to the New York Yankees.

His family will receive friends and relatives for visitation at the Jorge Rivera Funeral Home on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Roman Catholic Blessing Service will be offered at the funeral home Monday, March 18, 2024 at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Park Cemetery in Hackensack, New Jersey, where he will be laid to rest.

Evaristo's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He  will be remembered for his boundless love, unwavering kindness, and joyful spirit.
