Obituary of Rose A. Castro

Roseanna Castro passed away at the age of 63, on Saturday February 18, 2023 after a long battle with congestive heart failure and kidney disease. Affectionately called Rose to many, she was born in Manhattan, New York to Perfecto Castro and Maria Alvarez in 1959. Rose was the first born girl, she loved her siblings and friends; enjoyed music of all kinds; had a love of travel and culture; and most importantly loved bringing all generations of Castro’s together. Throughout her life, Rose always kept track of her siblings and supported them through phone calls and visits. Rose went on to have two beautiful children, Darryl Castro and Danielle Vauters. She loved her many nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and bonus family. Her late son, Darryl gifted Rose with two beautiful and talented granddaughters, Tatiana and Brittany Castro. Rose was an amazing support and love to Raymond Vauters, Danielle’s father, for 40 years. Raymond never left her side.

Rose enjoyed her job at the US Bankruptcy Court in Newark, NJ as an Intake Clerk. She would often come home with stories about her friends, whether coworkers or customers. Rose had a gift of solving problems at work and at home. She was a constant cheerleader and support to many throughout her life.

Rose lived a great life of love, laughs, music and memories. She loved being a New Yorker living in New Jersey and was proud Garifuna from Honduras. Rose loved learning about Garifuna culture throughout her adult life.

Rose is survived by her daughter Danielle, granddaughters, Tatiana and Brittany, partner Raymond, parents Maria and Perfecto Castro; siblings Abdur Rahim Muhammad, Nelly Castro, Carlos Castro, Albert Castro, Maria Castro, Bayron, Jasmin and Jairo; and many loved nieces, nephews and bonus family members.

Her family will receive relatives and friends for visitation at the funeral home Wednesday, March 1, 2023  from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
