Luz Carrillo, or Lala as I called her, was my grandmother. She was my after school caretaker for the majority of my early elementary school years, and was always there to cook, provide, and give me endless hugs, kisses, and support when I needed it. I never got the chance to learn enough Spanish for her, I never got to tell her the things I wanted to say for years, but if there's one thing I want her to know, it's that I loved her more than I could even let out in words. She was one of the most important women in my life, who I've shared life changing memories with that I will cherish and tell to my friends and family endlessly. Even at her worst, she still showed love and compassion towards the ones she cared about, and fought as hard as she could up until the very end. She was strong, hardworking, and went through so much that even I couldn't imagine going through whilst raising two kids on my own. Lala, thank you for being there for me, thank you for dealing with my craziness, and most of all, thank you for loving me unconditionally. Te quiero mucho tanto, te adoro, y gracias.
