Obituary of Nereida Losa

Nereida Losa Díaz, nacida el 12 de agosto de 1932 en La Habana, Cuba, se fue a estar con el Señor el 5 de agosto de 2022, a la edad de 92 años.  Falleció pacíficamente, con su familia a su lado, en su casa en Union City, NJ.  Nereida vivió una vida larga y honorable.  Ella era innegablemente una sierva buena y fiel a su Señor Jesucristo y pasó toda su vida al servicio de los demás.  Algunos de sus mayores logros incluyeron ser oficial de mérito del Ejército de Salvación durante 75 años, así como fundar un ministerio cristiano en The Second Home en Union City, NJ, donde asistió por más de 20 años.  Nereida vivió en Cuba hasta el año 1993, cuando se mudó a Nueva Jersey para estar cerca de su única hermana sobreviviente en ese tiempo, Dolores Moreira Díaz, y para ayudar a proporcionar una vida mejor para aquellos que dejó atrás en Cuba.  Continuó su vida de servicio a través de su trabajo con el Ejército de Salvación en Union City, NJ, una ciudad que llegó a amar tanto como su país de origen.  Trabajó como empleada en Roberts Variety Store en West New York, NJ, donde compartió el evangelio y se convirtió en amiga de todos los que se cruzaron en su camino.  Aunque enviudó después de solo un año de matrimonio y no tuvo hijos propios, Nereida cuidó de sus sobrinos como si fueran sus hijos, y muchos la consideraban una madre espiritual.  Nereida sobrevivió a cada uno de sus 14 hermanos.  Le sobreviven sus sobrinos Milagros Lugo (Cruz), Eduardo Eric Losa Arroyo, Claudina Hernández Bean, Nelia Orla Hernandez Bean, y muchos otros en Cuba, así como sus sobrinos nietos Noris López, Adalberto Lugo, Marco Antonio Lugo, Melinda Lugo, y muchos otros sobrinos nietos y seres queridos.  Su legado vivirá a través de las vidas que tocó y las semillas que plantó.

Nereida Losa Diaz, born August 12, 1932, in La Habana, Cuba, went home to be with the Lord on August 5, 2022, at the age of 92.  She passed peacefully, with family by her side, at her home in Union City, NJ.  Nereida lived a long, honorable life.  She was undeniably a good and faithful servant to her Lord Jesus Christ and spent her entire life in service to others.  Some of her greatest accomplishments included being a ranking officer of the Salvation Army for 75 years, as well as founding a Christian ministry at The Second Home in Union City, where she attended for 20+ years.  Nereida lived in Cuba until 1993, when she made the move to New Jersey to be close to her only surviving sister at the time, Dolores Moreira Diaz, and to help provide a better life for those she left behind in Cuba.  She continued her life of service through her work with the Salvation Army in Union City, NJ, a city she grew to love just as much as her home country.  She worked as a clerk at Roberts Variety Store in West New York, NJ, where she shared the gospel and became a friend to all who crossed her path.  Although she was widowed after only a year of marriage and did not have children of her own, Nereida cared for her nieces and nephews like they were her children, and she was considered a spiritual mother by many.  Nereida outlived each of her 14 siblings.  She is survived by her nieces and nephews Milagros Lugo (Cruz), Eduardo Eric Losa Arroyo, Claudina Hernandez Bean, Nelia Orla Hernandez Bean, and many others in Cuba, as well as her great nieces and nephews Noris Lopez, Adalberto Lugo, Marco Antonio Lugo, Melinda Lugo, and many other grand and great grand nieces and nephews and loved ones.  Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the seeds she planted.
