Obituary of Patria Heredia

Elena Patria Esther Heredia Colon, best known as “Patria”, 81yrs old, of Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away on December 20, 2021.

Patria was born on March 5, 1940 in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she was raised until her early teenage years. She later married Pelegrin “Coco” Heredia on July 7, 1955, moved to New Jersey shortly after where, together, they raised 9 children. They were married for a long and blessed 57 years prior to his passing on May 18, 2012. She took pride in being a stay at home wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling with her eldest daughter, Lula Heredia, and tending to her plants and her most prized possession, her home. Best known for her humor, Patria loved to laugh and see others laugh in her company. She is survived by her 9 children, 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4pm on December 28, 2021 at Jorge Rivera Funeral Home, 4543 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Bergen, NJ 07047. Pastor Ricardo DeJesus of Iglesia de Dios Pentocostal Elohim CLA will be officiating. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ 07031 on December 29th, 2021 at 10:30 am. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Jorge Rivera Funeral Home.
