Obituary of Oscar Fernando Poisler

May 30, 1944 to May 7th, 2021 Born into an Austrian/German/East European agricultural community in the southern Brazilian state of Parana, Oscar Fernando Poisler grew up moving around the state following his father’s career in the paper mill industry. As a result, he learned to make friends quickly with his sense of humor and a passion for sport and soccer. He was honorably discharged from the Brazilian army in 1966. In 1967 taking advantage of a shortage of truck mechanics in the US, he used his military training to secure a job in the transportation industry and join his brother in the US. In the same year, he met his beautiful future wife after a soccer game at Lincoln Park in Jersey City. After a long career in the transportation industry and an entrepreneur at heart, he acquired in 1988 Vaccaro Motor Messenger trucking company which served the printing industry in the New York Tri-state area. In retirement from the business world, he decided to continue to use his logistics and dispatching skills at Hudson County Transcend by serving the elderly with Jersey City’s pick-up service for senior citizens whom he charmed and always calmed so they can get to their medical appointments on time. He was always proud of instilling values in his children of love of God, integrity, seeking education, and a work ethic. His grandchildren loved to out humor him with “Dad jokes” which often were so bad they were funny. Oscar Poisler is survived by his loving wife, three kids, 1 brother, 2 sisters, 6 beautiful grandchildren as well as loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends. In person visitation will be offered from 4 to 7pm on Sunday, May 16th at Jorge Rivera Funeral Home in North Bergen, NJ. There will also be a livestream of the Parastas, Ukrainian Requiem Prayer Service, on Sunday, May 16th at 5:30pm for those who cannot attend in person."
