Obituary of Mercedes Barcelo

Mercedes Barcelo of West New York, New Jersey. Born 1/27/1936 in Guanabacoa, Cuba passed peacefully in North Bergen New Jersey on March 17 2021 with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her children : Arsenio Solares (wife Carmen), Ricky Solares (wife Lidice), and Maritza Menendez (husband Alfredo) and was preceded in death by her daughter Susan and son Sebastian. She has 11 grandchildren Richard, Jovanni, Vanessa, Victoria, Daniel, Adrian, Emma, Alexander, Gabriel, Alfredo, and Nicholas. She was a resourceful, hard working single mother who enjoyed baking delicious desserts (especially flan). She had many friends, and adored her pets and plants. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for charitable donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A visitation will take place Monday, March 22, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Roman Catholic Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at a time to announced at Saint Mary's Church in West New York followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in East Orange, New Jersey.
