Obituary of Rosa Angelica Gentile

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 19th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Jorge Rivera Funeral Home, 4543 Kennedy Blvd. North Bergen to celebrate Rosa Gentile’s life. She left us tragically last Wednesday, February 10th , from complications of Covid-19. Funeral services will be conducted at the First Reformed Church of Saddlebrook, 5 Ackerman Ave, Saddle Brook, on Saturday, February 20th at 9:00 a.m. The service will be live streamed on the church’s Facebook page for those who cannot attend in person (https://www.facebook.com/firstreformedsaddlebrook). Rosa was born October 4th , 1948 to Alzira and Moises Calhelha in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her early years were spent in the city studying accounting and she went on to work at the Bradesco Bank after graduating from high school. Rosa was pursued by many suitors, but only one young man would be lucky enough to win her heart – she married Armando Gentile on October 11th , 1970. A few years later they started a family; first with the addition of Giovana and after moving to America their son Jerry arrived. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Vovó, spending as much time with her granddaughters as she could. While skilled in accounting and financial matters, Rosa’s true passion was hosting friends and family at her home. She was happiest in the kitchen making delicious food for everyone and her vivacious personality always made the kitchen a place where people felt at home and could laugh the night away with her. Rosa is survived by her husband Armando, her children Giovana and Jerry and her grandchildren Brianna and Gia.
