Obituary of Peter Joseph Kalin
Peter Joseph Kalin, 66, originally of Freeport, NY, passed away on October
20th, 2020 in Weehawken, NJ.
Peter, known to everyone as “PK” and “Pete”, was born in Freeport, Long
Island, to Joseph and Agnes Kalin on November 26th, 1953. It was
Thanksgiving Day. He attended Freeport High School. He graduated cum
laude from SUNY Albany with a Bachelors Degree in English Literature and
was chosen Phi Beta Kappa.
He was a passionate salesman, starting off as a retail manager in the city,
eventually moving on to be a sales rep for shoes and furniture. Pete was a
huge sports fan with no limit as to what sport he would watch. He was also
an avid reader and book collector with a true gift of articulation and
expressiveness. He possessed enough books to rival any library. A few of his
favorite subjects were Egyptian History, Greek Mythology, Civil War
History, Astrophysics and Chelonians (turtles – for which he had a lifelong
affection). Other hobbies included building model tanks and ships, comic
books, crossword puzzles and teaching himself Egyptian hieroglyphics.
Peter is survived by his wife, Cerese Kalin, daughter Gabrielle Kalin-Daniel,
son Alexander Kalin, brother Michael Kalin, sisters Susan Basile and
Jacalyn Kalin, and granddaughter Charlotte Daniel.
Our heartfelt sympathy also goes out to all those suffering from losing loved
ones. May their souls rest in peace and their memories be a blessing.
