I don't think many people in this world have the privilege of knowing their great-grandparents, let alone cherishing them for their entire lives up until adulthood.

You were a wonderful wife, amazing mother, and extraordinary grandmother. You always sacrificed your happiness to make sure your kids and grandkids were alright.
I will always cherish all the beautiful memories we all had together. The times you would let me help you cook in the mornings eventhough I was only 4, how we jumped rope in the kitchen, how you always made the coolest braids on me, how you knew all the songs at El Parque Folclórico, how you made sure to take me to every church in Ecuador, and how we continued to share great times when you came back to Jersey. And who could ever forget your amazing cooking skills and how you always made enough to feed anyone who decided to pop in. The house was never empty because everyone loved your warm spirit and great big heart. Christmas was always a memorable event and the house would get full of family and friends. You radiated love and compassion and everyone is better for it. I will forever have a piece of you and grandpa in my heart and will never forget everything you both taught me. You made me the person I am today and I am eternally grateful. You were always a strong woman and fought until the end. I find comfort in knowing that you are no longer suffering and can now rest with grandpa in heaven. We lost a beautiful soul but heaven gained a lovely angel. May your legacy live on through all of us. Descanse en Paz, Mama Lola. La quiero mucho.

Mama Lola raised me and my brother Wilson, and sister Lily. She was so strong and always spoke her mind. I remember the smell of home made bread in the house...and the harmony between her and my grandfather Papa Alberto...what a beautiful person she was and forever will be in my heart...I know you're dancing and clapping in the sky together with Papa Alberto...Que viva la Vida

People don't know this,, or most outside the family, I should say, but Grandma (mama Lola) and I invented a language. It only consisted of two phrases,, I would say,, I love you very much,, and mama Lola would reply I love you very much back. Only I would say pookie wadum wadum wadum,, and she would reply back wa-dum wa-dum wa-dum waaa-dum, it was just ours,,,, that I can't forget it! Grandma I love you, and miss you a ton!!!! Pookie wadum wadum wadum! Can't wait to hear it back.
