Obituary of Charles Young
Celebrating the life of Charles Young, age 42 of Hackensack, New Jersey who passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2019 in Newark, NJ. He was born in Harlem Hospital on June 26, 1977. Shortly after his birth he moved to Jersey City, New Jersey where he grew up with his loving, late, adoptive parents Mr. and Mrs. Edward Forman. Lifelong resident of New Jersey he recently lived in Hackensack with his very good friends, Joel and Irene Prins.
He graduated from Saint Anthony's high school, attended West Virginia University and obtained a culinary degree from the Art Institute of New York. He was the recipient of a literary award for his short story,"What She Saw" in 2008. He was known for his wit, his quick sense of humor and his affectionate teddy bear personality. He was a protective "big" younger brother, loyal friend and loving uncle. He spent many childhoods summers in Bermuda with his caring aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald James. He valued real friendships and leaves behind many workmates at Party Rental Ltd., his dear friends Scott and Kevin, and many childhood companions. Charles loved spending his time cooking, watching movies, time with friends and family, and attending Pride events.
Charles loved and deeply admired Elda Reneau and often referred to her as Mommy. He leaves behind five adoptive sisters, Geraldine, Marcellia, Mirna and Nadeen and his brother Marco. He is the uncle to five nephews, Johnny, Brendan, Kevin, Myles and three nieces, Melissa, Cameron and Morgan.
His last arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Jorge Rivera Funeral Home located at 4543 Kennedy Blvd, North Bergen, NJ 07047. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a funeral mass on Monday April 22, 2019 at Corpus Christi Parish at 11:00 AM. Internment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, New Jersey.
