Obituary of George Luis Hernandez
George Luis Hernandez, 69, of Union City, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, May 25th in Christ Hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral service was held at Jorge Rivera Funeral Home at 4543 Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen, New Jersey on Monday, May 28th at 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM with Pastor Gregory Dunlap of Woodcliff Community Reformed Church officiating. Cremation services followed on Tuesday, May 29th for close family members and friends.
George was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Lydia Rivera-Hernandez and Francisco Hernandez on December 30, 1948. He worked as a Foreman for Union City Mirror & Table Company for over 30 years and was a very dedicated worker. He enjoyed listening to oldies at home with his family, hosting barbecues for family and friends to enjoy, fishing, playing baseball for the Fulton Cafe, and spending time with his loved ones.
George was a loving, gentle, compassionate and genuine man. He always welcomed people with the brightest and warmest smiles and he never held a grudge against anyone. He treated people like people and he loved everyone with his whole heart.
George opened his heart, home and life to many and wouldn't turn away the opportunity to help someone in need. He was old fashioned, never down with the technical age and latest gadgets, but that made him different, wholesome, connective and remarkable in so many ways. Anyone who knew him knew they were blessed to have met him and had been a part of his life.
George is at peace now in the Lord's courts and amongst beloved family members who have went before. Though our hearts ache for his passing, we know we will see him again in Heaven.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Hernandez, daughters, Linda Hanlon and her husband Craig, Lisa Molinero and her husband Michael, Melissa Molinero and her husband Paul and Donna Hernandez; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, Isabella, Michael, Makayla, Gracelyn, Aaron, and Paul; seven siblings, Jesus Manuel Saez, Francisca Saez, Miguel Saez, Carmen Quiñones, Maria Vega, Ana Molina and Hector L. Hernandez, and six others who have passed before.
