Obituary of Robert Joseph Hoff

Robert Joseph Hoff, resident of Rutherford, NJ. Formerly of Jersey City, NJ. Visitation will be offered on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church Garfield, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM.

Beloved brother and uncle, Robert Joseph Hoff passed away on Saturday May 27, 2023 at the
age of 65 years old. Born in Jersey City on April 22, 1958 to the late Therese M. Hoff (Moore) and Joseph M. Hoff at the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital. Robert was predeceased by his brothers Gerard Hoff of Jersey City, Joseph Hoff of Fords and Thomas Hoff of Jackson. Robert leaves behind sisters Therese Hoff of Rutherford, Dorothy Gallo (Hoff) of Keyport and brother Michael Hoff of Roscoe, NY. Robert was a beloved uncle to Therese Roselli (Zdanowicz) and husband Peter Roselli, Lauren Zdanowicz, Richard Murphy, Ashley Hoff, Michele Rankle
(Gallo), Cheryl Gallo, Anthony Gallo Jr. and Jason Gallo. Great uncle to Olivia Allison Roselli, the new
bright light of his life. He was loved and adored by many cousins, nieces and nephews from the Moore, Carroll and Gallo families and so many friends old and new. Robert was a graduate of Saint Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City, class of 1976, where he met his lifelong best friend and brother of 51 years, Father Peter J. Palmisano. Robert’s zest for adventure led him to his home in Dunedin, FL for 20 years where he graciously opened the doors of “Hotel Hoff” for many memorable family vacations. No one mixed a better cocktail than Robert and everyone was always welcome. Beloved “RaRa” as he was known to all who loved him, will be remembered always as the most
giving, thoughtful, and patient man. He was caring and selfless and took exquisite care of his own parents and other older adults, giving them dignity and comfort at the end of their lives. Robert hit his stride in life and career as the face of the Hoboken restaurant Il Tavolo di Palmisano. Here, he worked with his second family, the Palmisano’s. At the restaurant he always made new friends feel like family. Robert’s family is heartbroken by his sudden passing but will find comfort in celebrating his life and spirit. He had an immense impact on everyone who knew him, and he will be forever missed.

Immediately following the funeral mass the Hoff family would like to invite friends and family for a gathering at Il Tavolo di Palmisano, 700 Clinton St, Hoboken, NJ 07030
