It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Elida Rodriguez de Benitez, 89, who passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.

Elida was born on January 20, 1937, in Cantón San Antonio Chávez de San Miguel, El Salvador—a place she always held close to her heart.

She was the beloved wife of the late Oscar Benitez; a loving mother to her sons, Juan Esteban Benitez and his wife Marta, and Oscar Benitez and his wife Norma; a cherished grandmother to Walberto, Monica and her fiancé Christian Cianci, Steven, and Oscar; and an adored great-grandmother to Olivia and Gianna.

Elida loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She enjoyed going out to eat with loved ones, taking walks outdoors, and sharing special moments with family and friends. For many years, she was a member of the Casa Israel Medical Day Center, where she received wonderful care and created many joyful memories.

Elida can best be described as independent, well-read, compassionate, and full of elegance—a brilliant woman who lived a life centered around love and family. 

She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jorge Rivera Funeral Home, 4543 Kennedy Blvd., North Bergen, NJ 07047. Family and friends are invited to gather in honor of Elida’s life, to share memories, and to celebrate the beautiful impact she had on so many hearts.
