Obituary of Juan Bautista Nunez "El Paisa"

Juan Bautista Núñez, conocido en USA como El Paisa, un querido residente de Bayonne, New Jersey, falleció en la paz del Señor el 12 de abril de 2025, rodeado del amor de su familia. Fue un devoto ser humano, y su vida estuvo marcada por la fortaleza y la generosidad.

Nacido en la República Dominicana el 7 de noviembre de 1948, en Villa Riva, San Francisco de Macorís, Juan fue el querido hijo de Rosa Núñez y Javier Antigua. Como el segundo hijo de siete hermanos, asumió el rol de protector y proveedor desde muy joven. Tras emigrar a Estados Unidos en la década de 1980, continuó apoyando a su familia, priorizando siempre las necesidades de los demás por encima de las suyas. Su altruismo dejó una huella imborrable en todos los que lo conocieron.

Juan Núñez será recordado por su cálida presencia, su generoso corazón, sus sabios consejos, su humanidad y su increíble fortaleza. Conocido por su humildad, su sentido del humor y su profundo amor por la música, alegraba cada reunión y era el alma de la fiesta.

A pesar de una larga y difícil batalla contra el cáncer y otras complicaciones, su espíritu se mantuvo positivo y lleno de esperanza. Fue un verdadero guerrero; luchó hasta el último momento. Le sobreviven su amada esposa, María Torres de Núñez, y sus cinco hijos: Alexandra, Rosmery, Roberto, Greiky y Verónica. También deja a Ángela Camilo, madre de su última hija; a sus yernos y nueras; sus 16 queridos nietos; sus tres hermanas, quienes viven en España, y sus tres hermanos; a sus sobrinos, cuñados y amistades que lo amaron con pasión y a quienes él también amó profundamente. La familia lo era todo para Juan, y siempre enfatizó el valor de la Paz, el Amor y la Unidad.

Extrañaremos profundamente a nuestro querido Paisa, pero su legado continuará en los corazones de toda su familia y de quienes lo conocieron. Paz a su alma.

Se invita a familiares, amistades y demás allegados a asistir al velorio el domingo 20 de abril de 2025, de 4:00 a 8:00 p.m., en la Funeraria Jorge Rivera, 4543 J.F. Kennedy Blvd, North Bergen, NJ. Sus restos serán trasladados a la República Dominicana, Santo Domingo, y su velatorio será en la Funeraria Blandino, en la avenida Abraham Lincoln. Será enterrado junto a sus amados padres.

Juan Bautista Núñez, known in the USA as El Paisa, a beloved resident of Bayonne, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in the presence of God and surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend; his life was marked by strength and generosity.

Born in the Dominican Republic on November 7, 1948, in Villa Riva, San Francisco de Macorís, Juan was the beloved son of Rosa Núñez and Javier Antigua. As the second of seven children, he stepped into the role of protector and provider from a very young age. After migrating to the United States in the 1980s, he continued to support his immediate and distant family, always prioritizing the needs of others above his own. His selflessness left a profound mark on all who knew him.

Juan will be remembered for his warm presence, his generous heart, his wise advice, and his incredible strength. Known for his humility, his sense of humor, and his deep love of music, he brightened every gathering and was the life of the party. 

Despite a long and difficult battle with cancer and other complications, his spirit remained positive and full of hope. He was a true warrior, fighting until the very end. He is survived by his loving wife, María Torres de Núñez, and his five children: Alexandra, Rosmery, Roberto, Greiky, and Verónica. He is also survived by Ángela Camilo, mother of his youngest daughter; his sons-in-law and daughters-in-law; his 16 beloved grandchildren; his three sisters, who live in Spain, and his three brothers; as well as his nieces and nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and friends who loved him deeply and whom he also loved in return. Family was everything to Juan, and he always emphasized the values of Peace, Love, and Unity.

El Paisa's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, joy, and resilience will live on in the hearts of his entire family and all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace.

Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, April 20, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Jorge Rivera Funeral Home, 4543 J.F. Kennedy Blvd, North Bergen, NJ. He will be transferred to the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, and his wake will be held at the Blandino Funeral Home on Abraham Lincoln Avenue. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved parents.
