Obituary of Carmen Ramirez

Carmen L. García Ramírez fue una esposa, madre, abuela, hija, hermana y amiga amorosa. Le sobreviven su esposo Mario, su hija Jaqueline, su yerno Pedro y sus dos nietas, Angelina y Abigail.

Nacida el 5 de agosto de 1941 en Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, Carmen fue la mayor de cinco hermanos y la amada hija de  Manuel y Celida García. En junio de 1970, se casó con Mario Ramírez, y juntos construyeron una vida llena de amor y alegría, dando la bienvenida a su hija Jaqueline en diciembre de 1972.

Una mujer de muchos talentos, Carmen encontraba alegría en pasar tiempo con su familia y seguir sus pasiones. Era conocida por preparar deliciosas comidas, coser ropa hermosa y disfrutar del tiempo en la playa o inmersa en un buen libro. Su espíritu maternal se extendía más allá de su familia, cuidando con dedicación a niños en Astoria, Queens. Inspirada por la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, su santa favorita, Carmen vivió una vida de compasión y servicio. Su festividad preferida era la Navidad, y cada año esperaba con ilusión decorar y celebrar con sus seres queridos.

La naturaleza cálida y desinteresada de Carmen tocó los corazones de todos los que la conocieron. Enriqueció la vida de su familia y amigos con su amabilidad y amor incondicional. Rodeada por aquellos que la adoraban, Carmen deja un legado de amor y luz que será apreciado para siempre. Será profundamente extrañada.

Para celebrar su vida, se ofrecerá una visita el domingo 9 de febrero de 2025, de 4:00 PM a 8:00 PM. La misa se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia de San Agustín, el lunes 10 de febrero de 2025, a las 9:00 AM. El entierro se realizará en el Mausoleo de Flower Hill. La familia invita a todos los que la conocieron y amaron a unirse para honrar su vida y su legado. En lugar de flores, pueden hacer donaciones a St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Carmen L. Garcia Ramirez was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband Mario, her daughter Jaqueline, her son-in-law Pedro and her two granddaughters, Angelina and Abigail.

Born on August 5, 1941 in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, Carmen was the eldest of five children and the beloved daughter of Manuel and Celida García. In June 1970, she married Mario Ramírez, and together they built a life full of love and joy, welcoming their daughter Jaqueline in December 1972.

A woman of many talents, Carmen found joy in spending time with her family and pursuing her passions. She was known for preparing delicious meals, sewing beautiful clothing, and enjoying time at the beach or immersed in a good book. Her motherly spirit extended beyond her family, caring for children in Astoria, Queens. Inspired by Our Lady of Charity of Cobre, her favorite saint, Carmen lived a life of compassion and service. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and each year she looked forward to decorating and celebrating with her loved ones.

Carmen's warm and selfless nature touched the hearts of all who knew her. She enriched the lives of her family and friends with her kindness and unconditional love. Surrounded by those who adored her, Carmen leaves behind a legacy of love and light that will be cherished forever. She will be deeply missed.

In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mass will be held at St. Augustine Church, Monday, February 10, 2025, at 9:00 AM. Burial will be at Flower Hill Mausoleum. The family invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
