Professor Jose Soria passed away on January 21st of 2025, at the age of 88. He was a native of

Vallegrande in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and a resident of Jersey City, New Jersey. He truly knew that

it was more blessed to give than to receive. Jose was a loving father, grandfather, great-

grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. His smile

lit up any room he entered. He liked to read, play chess, draw, paint, dance, travel and loved to

spend time with her family and friends. Although Joseph is gone, he will live in our hearts

forever.

Don José was a beloved mathematics teacher for 25 years and during his last years of teaching,

he founded and directed his own school in Cotoca. José also founded several credit unions

throughout Bolivia. His students remember him as a talented, kind, and dedicated teacher. In the

last 36 years of his life in the United States, he dedicated himself to being the best loving

husband, father, and grandfather.

Jose is survived by his wife, Elffy; his children, Jose Omar, Marion Lucia, Liliana, Patricia Inez,

Elffy, Marco Antonio, Ruben Julio, Lorena del Carmen, and Americo Ivan; his 28 grandchildren;

his 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and 3 siblings.

Preceded in death by his parents, Nicanor and Modesta.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23rd, 2025, from 4-9 pm.

El profesor José Soria falleció el 21 de enero de 2025, a la edad de 88 años. Era nativo de

Vallegrande en Santa Cruz, Bolivia, y residente de Jersey City, Nueva Jersey. José fue un esposo,

padre, abuelo, bisabuelo y tatarabuelo amoroso, y un alma hermosa que siempre ayudaba a

cualquiera que lo necesitara. Su sonrisa iluminaba cualquier habitación en la que entraba. Le

gustaba leer, jugar al ajedrez, dibujar, pintar, bailar, viajar y le encantaba pasar tiempo con su

familia y amigos. Aunque José se ha ido, vivirá en nuestros corazones para siempre.

Don José fue un querido profesor de matemáticas durante 25 años y durante sus últimos años de

docencia, fundó y dirigió su propia escuela en Cotoca. José también fundó varias cooperativas de

ahorro y crédito en todo Bolivia. Sus estudiantes lo recuerdan como un maestro talentoso,

amable y dedicado. Sus últimos 36 años de vida en los Estados Unidos, se dedicó a ser el mejor

esposo, padre y abuelo cariñoso.

A José le sobreviven su esposa, Elffy; sus hijos, José Omar, Marion Lucía, Liliana, Patricia Ines,

Elffy, Marco Antonio, Rubén Julio, Lorena del Carmen y Américo Iván; sus 28 nietos; sus 16

bisnietos, 1 tataranieto; y 3 hermanos.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Nicanor y Modesta.

La velación se llevará a cabo el jueves 23 de enero de 2025, de 5 a 9 pm.
